SWORDS OF THE MOVIES

This section of the HSG (The HIGHLANDER Sword Shopper's Guide) covers the swords of Highlander, Highlander 2: The Quickening, and Highlander 3: The Sorcerer / The Final Dimension.

The information contained within the pages of this Guide are the results of many years of dedicated research. Like many of you, I started off browsing many websites and catalogs for "Highlander" swords, only to find that they were a bunch of knock-off Taiwanese fake swords. While more affordable, these rip-offs are ugly and poorly constructed and can potentially be dangerous if you don't know how to handle a sword properly.

The HIGHLANDER Sword Shopper's Guide was created as an information center to help people purchase the real swords, and to show them how to distinguish them from the fakes. As the Editor of the HSG, I frequent stores that sell an immense variety of replica Japanese swords. I hold them, inspect them, test their balance and their workmanship, and I present these reports to you, the Highlander fan.

One important note: The HSG does not sell anything, nor do we make money from this website. We do not have catalogs! These are purely consumer reports and reviews to give you information so you can make a wise purchase. The HSG is here to help you from being ripped off, and to date has helped many thousands of people. Even some staff of the Official Highlander Store have found this web page useful to answer customer questions on swords. We care for you. We are fans too. And we've been burned, hurt, and ripped off like some of you. Our desire is to preserve the magic that makes Highlander enjoyable for the years to come. We hope you will be blessed by this endeavor.

Swords of the Movies

Where/How Do I Buy A Real Highlander Sword - Many questions answered on "real" versions of Highlander swords.

Martespa's Prototype of Connor's Movie Sword - Never released but patterned almost identically after the movie prop of the first Highlander movie.

Official Sword of Connor - This is the official release of the sword of the first Highlander movie. Non-battleworthy, purely decorative. There is some variation to the original movie prop - as the original prop was crude when viewed close-up.

Auctioned Highlander 2 Background Sword - this is a view of one of the movie prop swords used in Highlander 2's. This shot is mistaken as the sword from Highlander 1, but it clearly isn't. The key is the dragon's scales. The Highlander 1 sword's pin hole used a screw to secure the blade.

Highlander 2 Movie Sword - A Highlander 2 movie prop for close-up beauty shots.

Clan MacLeod Sword - The sword of the Clan MacLeod seen in Highlander 1 wielded by the young Highlander Connor MacLeod.

Sword of the Sorcerer - The Noble Collection's unofficial version of Kane's Sword (Highlander 3)

Dark Magic - Jose de Braga's Kane's Sword - official Highlander 3 version, distributed through United Cutlery, made by Art Gladius of Spain

The Sword of The Kurgan - there are only a few surviving props of the Kurgan's sword left in the world, one of which is owned by the director or producer of Highlander 1. There are no official reproductions.
