Perhaps the worse thing that can happen to a dedicated Highlander fan is
when you go to a website and purchase a sword, thinking it is a real
Highlander sword, when it is, in fact, a knock off made in Taiwan!
When Highlander-style swords first flooded the market, fans bought them like hot cakes, hoping to recapture the movie magic in their own lives. However, some Taiwanese companies began to put fake versions and cheap copies of the original Spanish-made products on the market. They cost less, but the quality was extremely poor. Thus, thousands of fans were ripped of by these flashy products that not only fell apart or broke later on, but were dangerous to wield.

Fake Dragon-Headed Swords
Fake Official Sword of Duncan - While the actual Official Sword of Duncan was never used in the television series, nevertheless it was not immune to the effects of Taiwanese copycats. This too is a US$80-range sword. Fake Sword of Connor - This is perhaps the boldest move on the part of sword pirates. This is an US$80 rendition of the original Martespa - and official - Sword of Connor. Taiwanese Dragon Sword - This is perhaps the first copycat of the Marto-made Sword of the Dragon - which is the sword used by Duncan in the television series. This is a $135-155 range product.
